History of the Studies Plan of the Doctoral Program in Informatics
In 2021, the School of Engineering identified the need to reinforce advanced training more focused on the theme of the thesis and proposed, in line with the provisions of paragraph 3 of article 31 of Decree-Law n.º 65/2018, of 16 August 2018, the elimination of the entire curricular part of the respective study cycle. This change was heard by A3ES, which spoke favourably and accordingly, the study cycle was registered by the DGES under No. R/A-Cr 149/2010/AL02, on 26 August 2021.
As a result, the 3rd cycle course in Informatics at the University of Minho no longer had a school part with curricular units, moving from a Doctoral Program to a Doctorate in a tutorial regime.

Academic Years 2013/2014 to 2019/2020
The Doctoral Program in Informatics, modified by Despacho RTC-14/2013, is structured in two phases: a curricular one, which amounts to 60 ECTS, and the Ph.D. thesis in Informatics, corresponding to 180 ECTS.
The curricular component, referred to as Doctoral Course, includes 3 curricular units on Research Seminars, 2 curricular units on Complementary Sciences and Technologies, and 1 Project unit. It includes, also, the Thesis Planning curricular unit.
Admission to the Ph.D. thesis phase implies the conclusion of a probationary period of one year and the completion of a minimum of 30 ECTS, including the Thesis Planning in Informatics curricular unit.

The curricular component, referred to as Doctoral Course, includes 4 curricular units on Computational Sciences and Technologies, 2 curricular units on Behavior and Innovation, and 2 more Seminar units. It includes, also, the Thesis Planning curricular unit.
